Sorry it's been a long time since I posted. Things moving too fast! But we moved into the container house in December. It turned out beyond my expectations. The interior and porch are complete, but still have the siding to install. We've decided to add some 4x8 sheets of styrofoam insulation under the siding, so it will depend on the budget as to when it gets done.
Winter with nothing but a woodstove and A/C unit with heat pump was cold as hell. Wound up having to add just a space heater. Used at least a cord of firewood. Thus the reasoning for additional insulation.
I will post photos soon.

Almost there!
The house is almost ready for us to move into. Unfortunately, we have a blue norther coming in on Thanksgiving day, so we can't move in until the woodstove is installed. We sealed the floors with 2 coats of polyurethane. They shine like glass, a really wonderful look. Still unable to transfer photos to my computer.
After the woodstove, we will concentrate on the exterior - finally. Porch railing, steps, porch ceiling fans, and siding.

My camera stopped working
I have gobs of pictures, but my camera refuses to transfer them to my computer. I will keep working on it.
The house is very near completion. It has been sheetrocked, taped and bedded, and painted on the interior. It looks outstanding! I'm very pleased with the work we've done. We installed the kitchen counter top yesterday, and will be doing the bathroom counter top today, along with painting the window sills and baseboards. After that, we will be installing the wood stove and sealing the floors. I'm keeping the original floors, as they are solid mohogany. But they have been treated with insecticides (as are all shipping containers), so they need to be sealed. I don't want to be walking around on insecticides, and I sure don't want my pets walking around on them.
We still have exterior work to do. The porch railing, steps, and siding. Stay tuned!

The porch is on.

Finally - a finished roof!
After numerous delays due to monsoon type weather, the roof is finally completed. Still haven't finished the plumbing. There are only 3 major tasks to be completed now - sheetrock, siding, and the porch flooring. The house is livable now without sheetrock, so I've decided to do the porch next. The porch will be so grand, that's where I'll be "living" most of the time anyway.
I don't know if you can appreciate the roof in the photos - hopefully so - but believe me, it's a thing of beauty after weeks of working on it.

We have insulation
This was a really tough decision. Everybody talked about spray foam insulation and how great it is, but we went with batt insulation. We turned on the A/C, and within 20 minutes the temp inside the house had dropped from 95 to 85.
